Terms of Use

Last updated 5 June 2026

The short version. The Global Clock is a free reference tool, offered as is. The times, sunrise and sunset figures, holiday dates, and other data are computed for general information and may contain errors or be out of date. Don't rely on them for anything where a mistake could cause harm — double-check critical times against an authoritative source. Don't abuse, scrape, or overload the site, and respect the licences on the underlying data.

These terms govern your use of The Global Clock (clock.global, “the site” or “the Service”). In these terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to The Global Clock. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What the site is

The Global Clock provides time, time-zone, sunrise/sunset, moon, holiday, and related reference information, along with calculators and converters, for the whole world. It is currently free to use, and is offered for general informational purposes only.

Accuracy and no reliance

Considerable care goes into the data, but the site is not a source of authoritative or official time. Times, time-zone offsets, daylight-saving transitions, sunrise and sunset times, day lengths, holiday dates, weather, and every other figure on the site are computed from third-party datasets (such as the IANA Time Zone Database, astronomical formulae, published holiday calendars, and weather providers) and may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information.

Do not rely on the site as the sole basis for any decision where an error could cause loss, harm, or inconvenience — including catching flights or transport, scheduling meetings across time zones, legal or contractual deadlines, religious observance, financial or trading activity, medical timing, navigation, or emergencies. For anything that matters, confirm the information against an official or authoritative source.

No warranty

The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. This includes, without limitation, any implied warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. The site may change, break, or be taken offline at any time without notice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any loss or damage — direct or indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its data, including any reliance on information it provides.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to the minimum permitted by law.

Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • use the site for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these terms;
  • disrupt, overload, or impair the site or its infrastructure, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it;
  • make automated, bulk, or excessive requests beyond ordinary personal use — including scraping or crawling the site, its pages, or any undocumented internal endpoints — in a way that places an unreasonable load on the service;
  • attempt to re-host, mirror, resell, or redistribute the site's content or data as a competing or substitute service;
  • use the site to harass others, or to collect information for that purpose;
  • misrepresent the site, or remove or obscure any attribution or notices.

Reasonable personal, educational, and non-commercial use of the information — reading pages, using the calculators, and quoting a fact with a link back — is welcome and encouraged.

Intellectual property

The site's design, layout, original written content, and source code are our property unless otherwise noted. Much of the underlying data comes from open datasets and is made available under their own licences (for example Creative Commons and the Open Database Licence) — see the attributions page for the full list and the conditions that apply if you reuse it. Third-party names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

Third-party links and data

The site links to, and draws data from, third-party sources. We do not control those sources and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. Links are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.

Privacy

Your use of the site is also covered by the Privacy Policy, which explains the (small amount of) information the site handles.

Changes to the service and these terms

The site, its features, and these terms may change over time. Material changes to the terms will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, without affecting any consumer rights you have under the law of your own country.
